What is Healthchek?

I started healthchek.ning.com as and extension of my website healthchek.info in order to be able to interact with clients and other practitioners. Daily I receive calls and emails asking for advice so I decided it would be useful for everyone if we had a 'healthy functional facebook' style site with a blog and forum.

Personally I intend to use it to post my thoughts (on health) and to keep you updated on the interesting topics and articles I come across. I get a daily bombardment of health bulletins which even i struggle to keep on top of. So the plan is to pick out things which interest me that I know will benefit you. So if you see anything interesting, controversial or your just not sure if its fact or fiction, post it up or send it in. I will do my best to reference things if I know where they came from and encourage you to do the same. Sadly as this is a free source I currently don't have the time to do full harvard style but will endeavor to point you in the right direction should you want further information on particular articles or subjects. Other practitioners feel free to post up your topics and articles.

Remember this is just a space in which I/we intend to build up a store of all the useful information you may need so you may retrieve it at any point, and not at all in anyway self promotion hence why it remains private for friends/family etc to remain healthy.

So here it is, sign up and ask away.

A little about me:

I specialise in nutrition, strength and conditioning, corrective exercise, and lifestyle coaching. My individualised programs have helped both sports teams and individuals improve performance, increase recovery capability, prevent injuries, and improve health and overall vitality. I founded The Healthchek Clinic, where I maintain a practice designing corrective, performance enhancement, and rehabilitative exercise programs for clients with chronic musculoskeletal problems. Individualized nutritional programs are also an integral part of the practice as I am a Certified Metabolic Typing® Advisor.

While operating a full time practice, I also provide nutrition and performance consultancy to several high level sports athletes, covering topics ranging from hydration to lifestyle factors that influence their whole life not just their game. Ensuring that athletes are at their peak, means designing menu plans that optimise their energy levels during their training experience. I work as a consultant for other sports coaches at Premiership Football clubs. Licensed by the St John Neuromuscular Therapy School, I uses the latest progressions in scientific knowledge for all my therapies.

Currently a student with the CHEK Institute in the USA which I honestly believe helps me more than anything I've ever studied, as well as completing a BSc in Physiotherapy at Nottingham University, not sure its really for me as it goes against what I usually think. I'm hoping to make the transition to Osteopathy next year as It seems much more like my values. I work as a manual therapist, corrective exercise specialist, and a nutrition and holistic lifestyle coach and tend to be extremely analytical, intuitive, and use detailed observational skills in my clinical practice. Hopefully this swap will allow me to keep building my legacy. My first degree took the pathways of Sports Science, Psychology and Nutrition.

To work with me on improving any aspect of your health please contact via a PM on this site or email me at billy_pt@hotmail.co.uk.

Be well

Fat Strippers

I frequently get asked my opinion on fat strippers, sadly I think most people are referring to supplements such as fat burners etc.
The bottom line is "they don't work", if it was as easy as just popping a pill then the UK and US wouldn't be suffering the current obesity epidemic. One particular bran… Continue
